    Hi Sirmaster Pimp, I have a huge huge problem here, can you help. I got a Panasonic DVD recorder, with a whole load of family videos on there, and the machine has died!!. Ive taken the hd out and connected it to my dell xps, but it dont show on my computer tab. I see it in the Comp Managment but cant access it….i know its a long shot, any advice would be greatly appriciated….happy new year from sunny scotland!!

    Very informative, will try to install a second 40Ghz HDD that may not have been formatted correctly. Will need it for my Doom 3 game. Thanks.

    Yes, especially if its a SATA drive (desktops and laptops use the same connector). For an IDE drive, you would need to buy a cheap $10 adapter. Since laptop drives are so small you would probably have the drive just hanging free (make sure it doesn’t go near any fans or touch the motherboard). Most people do that so they can retrieve data from a broken laptop. You can also just buy a $20 external enclosure to make it easier and to use the drive as an external drive later on.
